As my YouTube subscribers may know, I have used the August EP650 headphones over my Beats Solo's for some time now, which is why I was excited to get my hands on the latest product in Augusts headphone line.
Assuming that the range of headphones they produce get to be higher quality depending on the model number, these AP634's should'nt be as good as the 650's, and that has proven to be true in multiple ways.
Firstly price, the 634's cost £37.95 (RRP, Amazon UK) compared to the 650's at £62.45 (RRP, Amazon UK). This factor again shows that the quality of the 650's should be considerably greater, and it is!
The 650's produce more bass, clearer sound, more padding for comfort, as well as being bigger over ear headphones as an oppose to on ear headphones like the 634's. However, this isn't to say the August's latest creation is bad, hell no! These headphone do pack a punch in their price bracket, so if youre looking to spend up to £40 on headphones, I'm pretty sure you'll be hard pushed to find better.
In terms of the styling of these new headphones, they actually look to me like a 90's product with a few modern touches to it! Remind you of the SE20? These headphones have exposed metal prongs that move to adjust for your head size, and a shiny 'leather' strap to go over your head, which in my mind should have stayed in the passed but I'll let you be thw judge of that. However the styling is helped by what appears to be black brushed aluminium and some hidden buttons.
Some aditional features include Bluetooth v3.0, a microphone, micro USB charging, the option to use AUX, multi functionality buttons to make life simple, two 40mm speakers and a 16 hour batter life. If you want to know about comfort, all I can say is that I wore these for a good 45 minutes and the only reason I had to adjust them is because I needed to scratch my head, they're extremely comfy and the noise cancelling isn't too bad either!
All in all these headphones aren't going to rival any top brands such as Bose or Bowers and Wilkings, but for the price, they should definetly be considered if you're on a budget!
