I'm sure too most people a lamp are just a lamp. It provides light when you need it, and that’s about it. But can this new model from August change your mind? I think it just might.
So regular desk lamps and lamps in general tend to just have one feature being that it provides light, or maybe in different brightness’s of light. But this latest product from August does much much more. The light its self has three different warmth settings going from a pure white, to a more conventional bulb colour which can be changed with one of the four touch sensitive buttons.
One of the other touch sensitive buttons allows you to turn the lamp on, off or even set it to be on for 30 minutes which is a nice feature to be included. The other two buttons adjust the brightness up and down through five different options, which are indicated by five small blue LED's above the set of buttons.
My favourite feature however is the included USB output on the back that provides a 5w output. This allows you to sacrifice one of the couple of plugs by your bed that would normally be used to charge your phone, to plug in this lamp, and still have the ability to charge your phone. Great idea!
The simple box comes filled with one piece of packaging foam with a cutout for the lamp, and one for the accessory box which holds just the power supply. Along with that you get a well-written instruction manual that will help you get to grips with the controls of the lamp.
The lamp itself is made from a solid metal and finished in a nice stealthy black that'll fit in with most decors you would usually come across. The lamp has the ability to fold down to take up no space at all; it can swivel, and reach out a fair distance to illuminate a workspace.
Speaking of workspace, due to the different warmth’s of light that this lamp produces, you can use it for a lot of different tasks in which you need a well-illuminated workspace.
So has this lamp changed what you may look for when buying one in the future? I should hope so; this is a great example of new technology working its way in to everyday use objects that can really make a big yet simple difference in our lives.
